Group Details For Worthing u3a Choir

Group Description :
The Worthing u3a Choir meets every Friday morning at the Heene Community Centre where we prove the theory that singing really does lift the spirits!  We meet in the Centre's largest hall, the Shakespeare Room, from 11.30am-1.15pm.

Over the past few months, the group has grown in number, particularly in the soprano and alto sections. However, we are still open to more members and would particularly welcome  more male voices. If you sing tenor or bass - or know someone who does and might be interested - please do apply and come and give us a try! (New members will be offered a couple of trial sessions before being asked to commit to the group.)

Our Director of Music is experienced musician, choir conductor and teacher, Roger Pinsent, who started with us at the beginning of September 2024. He is building on the enthusiasm he found already within the group, and is helping us develop our singing skills still further. He is ably assisted by our wonderful accompanist David Akers.

We sing a wide range of music from many different genres and are learning to sing in parts. We do occasional concerts, and although there is no set time for these, it usually works out at about four a year.

As the choir is a social entity as well as a musical one, quite a few of us meet in the centre's cafe before we start singing, or stay for a bite to eat after the practice. Do come and join us for tea/coffee and a chat!

There is a small termly charge, payable in advance, to cover the cost of  hall hire.  Please note, because of our hall-hire commitments, the Group Attendance Fee for each Term is payable in advance, and is non-refundable. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
